My husband walks in the bathroom and sees me dressed in this outfit. The conversation that ensues:
Craig: I know I’m not a fashionista, but that outfit reminds me of when girls were in 5th grade and wanted to wear spaghetti straps to school, but weren’t allowed…
Me: Exactly. I had the same thoughts and am feeling the same way. But apparently, that’s back in and I’m trying it!
Yes, that was the extent of our conversation, but it definitely got me thinking about my middle school days. (More below!)
Oh man, I’m remembering those days fondly (but not too fondly). I sported so many of these looks in my middle school era at school, church, the fair, you name it. Isn’t it funny how things come back in like that? Except, I’m not 100% sure it was “in” in middle school. But, I can assure you that is definitely “in” now!
I’m actually glad it is back in because it will make those summer dresses last even longer into the season and I don’t have to revisit my middle school years in order to do it. Put a t-shirt or turtle neck (yep, those are back too!) under any dress or romper to take it into fall and maybe even winter if you’re lucky. Stick with solid colors to keep it minimal and chic with a pair of boots or booties. And have fun putting layers together like you never thought you could!
